___ Dick Deadeye finds the captain alone and tells him Ralph and Josephine plan to run away and get married.
___ Sir Joseph immediately sends for Ralph (who is now Captain) and for the captain (who is now a low-status sailor). Finally, Ralph and Josephine can marry each other. The former Captain is now free to marry dear Little Buttercup, and Sir Joseph agrees to marry Hebe.
___ Sir Joseph returns, complaining that Josephine does not love him. The Captain tell him not to worry and that he should tell Josephine that social status doesn't matter when two people love each other. When Josephine hears this, she decides perhaps she can marry Ralph.
