Tips for Success in American History and Applied English

Come to every class (physically and mentally) and come on time. No students will be admitted late to Applied English. Eat breakfast and get enough sleep so your brain works.

Bring a bilingual dictionary to every class. Use a bilingual dictionary and an English-only dictionary when you read and write.

Eat and drink before class. You may bring a drink in a hard cup with a tight lid to Applied English; no other eating and drinking.

Stay organized. Keep separate notebooks for each of your classes and keep them neat.

Study a minimum of 3-4 hours each day, six days a week, for these two classes. Never fall behind -- not even one day.

Read the chapter before and after the lecture.

Form a study group and help each other, but don't copy another student's work.

Ask questions anytime you don't understand. Don't wait!

Think -- don't just memorize. Your feelings and opinions are important.

Always do neat, careful work. Use your best English all the time.

Believe in yourself. You can do this work.
