Partner Assignment
Due April 26, 2002
Name _________________________________ Group (A or B) ________
Your Willamette partner's name _____________________________
Other group members ______________________________________________
Instructions to TIUA students:
- This is the last time you will meet your partner.
- Choose a new leader! The leader is responsible for setting up a time
to meet your partner. Don't wait. Do it now. You may also want to choose
a different leader (or leaders) for the discussion or parts of the discussion.
- The Willamette class that your Willamette partner is taking, " Japanese
Language and Culture", is in English. Speak English when you meet unless
you need help understanding something and your partner can help in Japanese.
- Meet for at least one hour for each assignment. Spend half an
hour discussing topics the Willamette students bring, and the other half hour
discussing topics you bring.
- Prepare as a group before
you meet.
- Choose one or two topics from the list I gave you. Add any of your
own questions. Be prepared as a group and as individuals before
you meet you partner.
- Make sure
that every member participates. Do not allow conversations between two members
only. If this happens, say, "(Name),
what do you think about this topic?" or "This is a group discussion.
Let's all participate."
Report of your meeting (Write neatly! Use correct
grammar and spelling. Be complete -- don't be too brief! Use complete
sentences. This is a university.)
When and where did you meet?
What topics did you discuss (your topics and the topics brought up by the
W. U. student)? What did you learn? What was interesting?
What differences in communication style exist among members of your
TIUA/WU group? Are these individual or cultural, in your opinion? In addition,
describe any difficulties you had communicating.
Was this activity worthwhile? Would you recommend such an exchange for next
year's TIUA students? What did you learn? What did you enjoy? What was difficult?
What did not work well? Please write as many comments as you can to help me
and future students!
