Independent Listening Comprehension Practice
Radio
91.5 FM and 55 AM: Oregon Public Broadcasting has these excellent
radio stations. The programming includes news, music, and shows on cars, cooking,
politics, American life, etc. The stations broadcast 24 hours each day.
Television
Find one show you like and watch the same show each week. Try to find an
American friend to watch with, so you can ask about expressions and words
you don't understand.
Kaneko Language Lab, Room 110 (Please do not take books and tapes from the
lab!)
- On the back shelves and at the last desk near the shelves are copies of
the book English Pronunciation for Japanese Speakers. There
are also tapes for this book on the left side of the top shelves.
- Tapes for Quest are also in the Language Lab.
Kaneko Learning Center
- You can get the CDs for Quest from Bill Nelson or Jeff Brislin
during the day. Between 5 and 10 p.m., the student worker can check out the
Quest CDs to you.
- The computers in the Kaneko Learning Center have the software program
Focus on Grammar. There are four levels of difficulty. To begin, at
the bottom left of the screen, click on start. Then choose programs, learning,
and Focus on Grammar. This software program has excellent listening
activities!

for Japanese Speakers are located in the Willamette Language Lab.
Check them out at the lab reception desk with your ID.
