Visit to the Hallie Ford Art Museum

• Welcome to the Hallie Ford Museum. You can come to the museum Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10-5. It is free with your student ID card.
• Today you need your notebook, dictionary, and a pencil. Leave everything else in a cubby.
• Please be quiet, and do not bring drinks, food or gum into the museum.
• Do not take photographs and do not touch anything.
• Do not go out any door except the front door (unless there is a fire!)
• The Museum has two floors. Be sure to look on both floors.
• On the first floor is a wonderful temporary exhibit of the works of the well-known Oregon artist Charles Heaney. Be sure to look at this exhibit: "Charles Heaney: Memory, Imagination, and Place".

• We will spend about one hour here. Meet me in the lobby at 11:30.
• When we leave, we will walk back to TIUA through the cherry blossoms and past some public art. I would like to be back in room 113 by 12:00.

Assignment:

After you look through the museum, choose one work of art in the museum that you really like. Take brief notes. Be prepared to describe it to your classmates.

1. What is the title of this work of art? Who is the artist?

2. What is the subject of the work of art, if you can decide? Is it realistic, surrealistic, or abstract? Is it a drawing, a painting, a sculpture, or something else?

3. What is it made of, painted with, or drawn with?

4.Describe the work of art.

5. What do you like about this work of art? Is there a message? Does it put you in a certain mood? Does it make you feel some certain emotion?

6. Does this work of art come from or fit into a certain culture?
