Dialog using English words "loaned" to the Japanese language and therefore creating confusion for Japanese learners of English

A and B are Willamette students. The time is May 2002.

A: Hi, how's it going?

B: Oh, fine. I finished my finals. What are you doing?

A: I'm heading for McDonalds for a McFlurry and a hamburger. Do you want to come?

B: Nah, I think I'll have some fruit; it's healthier . . . and I'm going to rent a movie, sci-fi probably, and then play pool. I'm not very interested in prime-time TV.

A: Well, I'll see you in August. I'm flying to Los Angeles tomorrow for vacation.

B: Don't forget your camera and your ticket. Do you need a ride to the airport?

A: Sure ............ [thinking]................... oh, never mind -- I'll just take the HUT since I'm leaving so early.

B: Have fun. See you in the fall.
