Writing About Vacation

Description:

1. For this assignment, you will be working with a partner. Find a partner and meet with them now, in class.

2. Once you have selected your partner, discuss with them IN ENGLISH and find out as many interesting things as you can about their summer experiences. Take notes.

3. When you have finished interviewing your partner, you should write a short story about your partner's adventures. The story should be equal to about one typewritten, double-spaced page in length.

4. Use Microsoft Word to write your document.

• When you are finished, SAVE your document by choosing the FILE menu and selecting SAVE.
• Where it says SAVE CURRENT DOCUMENT AS, type "yourname_vacation."
• Click on the SAVE button to save the document.
• Make sure you save the document to the DESKTOP.
• Check it carefully for grammar and spelling mistakes.
  

5. Copy your file to Porpoise:

• Select the APPLE Menu and select CHOOSER.
• Click on APPLESHARE and then on PORPOISE. Click OK.
• Log onto Porpoise as a GUEST. Click OK.
• Find FALL99COURSES and click once on it. Click OK.
• You will now see an icon appear on your desktop with the name FALL99COURSES. Double-click to open that folder.
• Find the folder called INFOSCI and double click to open it.
• Find the folder called VACATION and copy your file from the desktop to this folder. Make sure you have given your file the correct name (yourname_vacation).

6. Finishing:

• When you are finished copying your file to FALL99COURSES, please drag the icon for FALL99COURSES to the Trash.
• Go to the SPECIAL Menu and select EMPTY TRASH.
