Spring
2004 English I & II
Prof.
Gregory
Weekly Learning
Goals
Directions:
Each week you
will be asked to think about what you want to do during the week to be a
successful language learner. You should think about what you can do in class and outside of class to be a good student. You should be
specific with your
writing.
DonÕt just
say things, such as: ÒI want to study hardÓ or ÒI want to speak English.Ó
Instead,
identify the specific areas that you need to work on most and think of something
very specific you can do to improve that area.
For example,
if you are having trouble understanding the professorÕs comments, you might say
something like: ÒI will listen carefully, take notes and raise my hand each
time I donÕt understand something. When I raise my hand, I will ask a specific
question so I can understand better.Ó
You will
receive this assignment every Friday. You need to write a paragraph expressing your goals and
bring it to class on Monday.
This activity is worth 10 points.
Prof. Gregory
will collect your goals and read them. On Friday, he will return your learning
goal paragraph with comments. The comments will help you understand if you have
made progress on your goals. The comments will also help you understand what
you should work on the next week.
